Test Drive Event May 14 Benefits Warren Tech

Take a test drive with a Ford vehicle on Saturday, May 14, in the Warren County Technical School parking lot and the school’s Automotive Program will benefit.

Smith Ford Motor Company, in association with Ford’s national fundraising program for schools, will host “Drive 4 UR School” in the Warren Tech lot from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. For every test drive performed on an array of vehicles provided during that time, Ford Motor Company will donate $20 to the program. Test drives must be performed by a driver over the age of 18.

Participants do not need to be associated with Warren Tech. Extended family, friends, and supporters of automotive tech programs are encouraged to join in without an obligation. Pre-registration is not required.

“It’s a great community program ultimately benefiting the community at-large, and it’s an easy way for a school to make some money,” said John Smith of Smith Ford Motor Company. “Warren Tech’s automotive program is an excellent learning experience for young people who are looking to get into the automotive field. Many of the graduates of this program now work in shops throughout the region, including our service department.”

The Drive 4 UR School program was developed in 2007 and Smith Motors has participated for the last five years. Previously it has partnered with Belvidere, Warren Hills, Hackettstown, and North Warren high schools. For every qualified test drive that’s completed at the event, Ford donates $20 to the school, with a goal of raising up to $6,000 total.

Smith Motors has also participated in Ford’s sister program, Drive 4 UR Community, which raises money for community-based non-profit organizations. Smith Ford Motor Company is located on Route 31 in Washington Township and is celebrating its 90th anniversary this year.
