Tech Earns 35 Medals at SkillsUSA States

Warren Tech students brought home some major wins at the annual SkillsUSA State Championships this month. Pictured are the medal winners.

On Saturday, April 8, Warren County Technical School sent 80 students to the 2017 SkillsUSA State Championships at the Garden State Exhibit Center in Somerset, NJ, earning 35 medals!

Students represented their chosen shop programs in various skills-based competitions. Eight students earned state championships, 21 students earned silver medals, and six students earned bronze medals.

Sophomore Nick Hufford also ran for the Skills USA State Office Team and was elected to the position. He previously served as a Regional Officer.

“The students represented Warren Tech with honor and pride,” said Tech’s SkillsUSA Advisor, Lori Miller. “SkillsUSA is an exceptional organization, and it is exciting to see our students utilize the talents and training that they receive at Warren Tech.”

SkillsUSA is a national organization that works in partnership with students, teachers, and industry representatives to ensure a skilled workforce in America. SkillsUSA serves to support teachers, high school, and college students who are preparing for careers in technical, skilled, service and health occupations, and post­secondary education.
