Sci-Fi Festival Returns To Washington May 20

Imagine a day in a town not so far away, with folks roaming the streets in Sci-Fi gear from a galaxy really far away —  and who knows what else! Well, that’s the sights you’ll see when the streets of Downtown
Washington are filled with characters galore at the 3rd Annual Sci-Fi Fantasy Day.

The Washington Business Improvement District, in partnership with Arcana Toys, Games & Hobbies, is ready to once again bring this out-of-this-world experience back to the Downtown, on Saturday May 20 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

This action-packed one day festival in Washington, in which fans of Science Fiction, Fantasy, Anime and Manga, gather to participate in games, contests, shop and to meet experts, famous personalities, and
each other, is nothing short of  amazing fun. The day also includes LARPing, and other gaming and costume activities. There are vendors, clubs, activities, Science Fiction, Fantasy,  Film,  TV,  Podcasts, Artist and Author Alley, Fandom,  Comics,  Literature, Cosplay,  Anime, Gaming and much more going on all day long!

It’s FREE to attend. The public, from folks in Washington to the far reaches of the universe, are invited to come by and participate – or just check it out!

Among the special guests at this year’s event, sponsored in part by Rossi Chevrolet Buick GMC:

·         Will Tores – Comic book artist – Walking Dead
·         10th Doctor – David Tennant look-a-like
·         Josh Wanisko – Writer, Author of Dr. Who Short Trips
·         Kristina Garlick – Author
·         Emily Guido – Author

With characters from around the galaxy roaming the downtown, the day will be magical – and certainly different from your typical day in Warren County!  Writers doing book signings, professional illustrators, hand-crafted jewelry artisans, tarot card readings, fine art, and plenty more will be a part of this ultimate Science Fiction Fantasy Day.

Science Fiction and Fantasy are genres that constitute a huge business with a large fan base from every walk of life. The event is expected to encourage local economic growth for all involved. Several local
businesses are expected to to open their doors and share in the fantasy spirit by co-playing, decorating, playing favorite fantasy/sci-fi movies, and promoting the day’s events in one way or another. Lost
Ladies Grill, for example, will be making sci-fi-inspired food.

In addition, there will be live music, with Pixel Face, Giggler and Rhiannon’s Lark, created by Alyssa Yeager (sensual vocals, growly guitar, candy-coated ukulele) to express the reality of life as a geek, goddess, and girl. She brings gaming, fantasy, morality, and T-Rexes together into a show that will comfort your ears, get you laughing, and possibly even make you think. Another special performance will come from the Fantasha Belly Dancing Troupe.
