‘House’ Recognizes Distinguished Friends

Norman Worth of WRNJ, on right, and Paul and Phyllis Bartkus of Hackettstown, were recognized as “Distinguished Friends of The House” for their efforts on behalf of the House of the Good Shepherd at the retirement community’s 10th Annual Wine & Dine fundraiser on May 4. Over 175 people attended the event and nearly $17,000 was raised with the proceeds benefiting the Shepherd’s Fund. The fund provides financial support to residents who have outlived their resources and ensures that no resident shall be asked to leave due to their inability to pay. The night featured numerous restaurants from the area offering tastings of their superb culinary delights, and also featured wine and beer tastings, a silent auction, and live music with the Grover Kemble Trio. Participating restaurants and eateries included Bea McNally’s, Churrascaria Paladar, Harper’s Bakery, James On Main, Mama’s Restaurant & Café Baci, Marley’s Gotham Grill, Mattar’s Bistro, Pandan Room, Panther Pub, Philly Pretzel Factory, Stella G’s, and TOPO. Local wineries on hand were Brook Hollow Winery and Villa Milagro Vineyards. And for the first time, the evening offered beer tastings, too, from local craft brewery, Czig Meister Brewing. (Photo by Cathy Miller)
