Fun-Filled Washington Green Fest Slated For June 3 

It will be all about the “green” when the Washington Business Improvement District kicks off the 2017 Farmers’ Market season with its annual GreenFest on Saturday June 3.

Indeed, there will be plenty of family-friendly “green” fun as a host of specialty vendors, kids’ activities, farmers, and live music devoted to the green theme “set up shop” in the Pocket Park in the center of Downtown Washington.

The weekly farmers’ market then takes place every Saturday through the end of September, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The market will always be held along Route 57, anchored in the Pocket Park, located at 44 E. Washington Ave. (Route 57).

This year’s GreenFest is sponsored by Rossi Chevrolet Buick GMC and Investors Bank.

The GreenFest Team, a dedicated group of area residents, “strives to raise awareness regarding environmental concerns and how consumers can reduce their impact on the earth by selecting sustainable, eco-friendly products and services, reducing energy consumption, conserving water, and limiting their dependence on fossil fuels.” To that end, there will be much on display on June 3.

Among the participating groups and vendors so far scheduled for the GreenFest are: SAVE – (Warren Hills) Students Against Vandalizing the Earth presenting on Sustainable Living options – Composting; HOTT – Healthy Options for Today and Tomorrow presenting on “Food Addiction”and the unhealthy health issues that can occur from ingesting many empty calories; Horses4Hope – pony rides … free pony rides for first hour with a non perishable food donation to the Community Food Pantry of Washington (limit 1 per child); Face Painting by Jess & Denean; Priscilla & Spartacus the pot bellied pig; 4-H clubs of Warren county; the Musconetcong Watershed Association; Su’s Earthly Goods,;  NJ League of Conservation Voters Education Fund– handing out educational literature regarding clean energy and environment;  Washington Boro and Warren Co. Clean Communities with Diana Dove– Free Critter Craft with a message about not littering, and Shoprite of Washington– Nutritional Education materials & Giveaways.

Singer-songwriter George Marinich will be performing as well.

The following farmers and vendors will not only be at the GreenFest, but be part of the weekly farmers’ market:

Zip’s Fresh Produce, Greenbytes Farm, Asbury Village Farm, Four Fields Farm, Scentsy, Weeble Wobble Honey Farm, Luce’s Gluten-Free Artisan Bread, Marchese Farm, LLC, Omninon, LuLaRoe Dana Hagedorn; Juniper Tree Spices, Do Good! Goods; and Stone Row Acres. The Farmers’ Market is presented by St. Luke’s University Health Network, with further sponsorship from Smith Tractor & Equipment, Inc., Hairmazing, Washington Diner, Investors Bank, Rossi Chevrolet Buick GMC, Warren County Dental Center and Crossfit WCG.
