As part of a character education program that helped mark the 100th day of school, Oxford Central School students in kindergarten through second grade collected 140 cans of soup for the Caring Cupboard food pantry in Washington. The CORRECT character education program includes “Citizenship” in its curriculum, and the students (and their teachers Ms. Knauer, Mrs. DeMarco, Mrs. DiRenzo, Mrs. Esposito, Mrs. Hart, and Mrs. Saxton) thought that the food collection would be a great way to practice good citizenship. The students were happy to assist the local food pantry, which is run by the United Methodist Church in Washington Borough.
