Cub Scout Pack 222, of Mansfield Township, recently collected and delivered nearly 1,000 pounds of donated non-perishable food items as a community service project.

The food drive, held Dec. 5 at the Washington ShopRite on Route 31, benefited the Community Food Pantry of Washington housed in the First Presbyterian Church.

Last year, the pantry supplied 5,314 people, representing more than 2,000 families, with food.

“Pack 222 is proud to be collecting food to be delivered to the Washington Community Food Pantry, and to be helping out our community,” said Rebecca Phoebus, Pack Cub Master.

In addition to food donations, the Cub Scouts received monetary donations totaling $197 and another $25 in ShopRite gift cards to help supply the food pantry.

Mansfield Cub Scout Pack 222 is chartered by the Mansfield Fire Co. No 1, 324 Main Street, Port Murray.
