Two Hackettstown High School seniors have signed national letters of intent to study and compete in their respective sports at the college level.

John Franco will attend Caldwell College and play on the school’s NCAA Division II baseball team. So far this season the pitcher is 3-0 and has a batting average of .468. Last season he accrued 30 hits, 24 RBIs, and an overall batting average of .398, earning him multiple accolades.

“John sets the example for hard work and discipline on and off the field for our program. Coach Messina and the Cougars are getting a quality player who will be an asset to the Caldwell College team,” said coach Gary Poyer.

Swimmer Nicole Roberts has signed to Cedar Crest College, where she will compete on the Falcons’ NCAA Division 3 swim team.

Roberts was an integral member of the Tigers’ swim team and competed at the Varsity level since its inception three years ago. Roberts competes in the 50 Freestyle and 200 and 400 Freestyle Relays and hopes to help the Falcons under the direction of Coach Katie Vincent next year.
