House Of Good Shepherd Hosts Golftoberfest Sept. 26

The House of the Good Shepherd Retirement Community’s Golftoberfest is anything but just another fundraiser golf outing.

This is an outing that combines the best of everything that makes Octoberfest celebrations so much fun, and more! There’s golf, German food, beer tastings, an Oompah band and lots of prizes.

Scheduled for Tuesday Sept. 26 at the beautiful Shawnee Inn Golf and Golf Resort in the Poconos; this Tillinghast design was the host of the 1938 PGA Championship. Golfers will have the added pleasure of playing as the fall leaves turn bright and colorful, maybe catch a glimpse of the bald eagles that nest on the course, and capture the scenic Delaware River that runs along the edge of the course..

“It’s a great day and it has truly become a fall tradition for our golfers,” said Dave Woods, Director of Development at The House.  “We really try and make this a event so much more than just another golf outing.”

The day includes breakfast, golf, on course food and beverages, prizes, an Authentic German lunch menu, free beer tastings, a live Oompah Band, and more.

Check in begins at 8:30 a.m., with a shotgun start to the outing at 9:30. Cost per golfer is $150. Sponsorships and prize donations are graciously accepted. All of the proceeds from the outing will benefit the Shepherd’s Fund. This fund helps to support those residents who have outlived their financial resources. Because of the generosity of our community, The House of the Good Shepherd has never had to ask anyone to leave due to insufficient funds in its 135 year history.

The House of the Good Shepherd is located in Hackettstown, and offers an array of retirement living arrangements including independent and assisted living, to skilled nursing care, as well as short term rehabilitation.
