Medicaid, Alzheimer’s: Good Shepherd Seminars

Understanding how the medicaid process works, and also how to enjoy the holidays with a loved one that has Alzheimer’s Disease are two important free seminars being offered by the House of the Good Shepherd Retirement Community in November.

The House of the Good Shepherd Retirement Community, located at 798 Willow Grove Street in Hackettstown, will be hosting “Medicaid Guidance” on Thursday Nov. 9 and on Wed. Nov. 15, “Celebrating the Holidays When Your Loved One has Alzheimer’s Disease”. The Medicaid event runs from 2-3 p.m. while the Alzheimer’s seminar takes place from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Both events are open to the public.

The Medicaid seminar will cover eligibility criteria, required documentation, allowable expenses, spousal allowances and pooled income trusts. The program will be presented by a representative from Senior Planning Services.

Changes brought on by Alzheimer’s disease can impact how families celebrate the holidays. The Nov. 15 program will highlight ways to modify meaningful traditions, celebrate away from home, and cope with caregiver stress.

There will be ample time for questions and answers at both events. Seating is limited for both events, however, so pre-registration is highly recommended. To register email Chris Garofalo, cgarofalo@hotgs.org, or phone, 908-684-5722. For more information about The House, visit www.hotgs.org.
