Oxford Central Students Give To Folks In Need

This holiday season at Oxford Central School has been filled with giving to people in need.
To start off the spirit of giving, the school participated in a pajama drive hosted by Mrs. Gilberti and was partnered with the Scholastic Book Club. Students donated over 120 pairs of new pajamas to benefit children that are living in shelters. The Scholastic Book Club matched every pair of pajamas with a brand new book.
To support and take care of the troops far from home, students and staff donated various items. These items included deodorant, granola bars, toothpaste, toothbrushes, chapstick, cough drops, microwave soups, pop tarts, instant oatmeal, and microwave popcorn. The Rolling Thunder Chapter 3 organization and the school nurse, Barbara Svercauski, facilitated this charitable event. Rolling Thunder is a nonprofit organization who supports our armed forces that are serving overseas.
Students also made holiday cards that were given to residents at the Warren Haven nursing home. The K-Kids and Student Council Clubs sang Christmas carols (photo above) and passed out the cards to bring some cheer to the senior citizens.

Finally, staff at Oxford Central School gave to children in need by donating new toys and clothing to give as gifts to low income families.
