Centenary Stage Company’s Great Authors Out Loud Series continues Saturday, April 23, with a free presentation of Randall Duk Kim and Anne Occhiogrosso’s “The Pleasure of His Company: Our Love Affair with William Shakespeare.”

The afternoon of personal recollections, scenes, and stories of Shakespeare’s influence on the couple’s lives and careers will pay special tribute to the First Folio of 1623, from which they have worked.

Scheduled for 2 p.m., “The Pleasure of His Company” was written to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the Bard’s death and pay tribute to the man who made Occhiogrosso, a girl turned director from a working class family in Queens, and Kim, a boy turned actor from a carnation farm in Honolulu, fall head over heels in love with him.

Both encountered the legendary playwright at an early age and have dedicated 45 years of their lives to the works of Shakespeare. They have gathered funny, heartfelt, and inspiring stories through their years of study, and have in turn directed his best plays and embodied his greatest characters. Using their experiences as a guide, Occhiogrosso and Kim will treat the audience to a private lesson of how to use the First Folio of 1623, regarded as the most authentic and reliable version of a majority of the playwright’s texts, in performance.

“The Pleasure of His Company: Our Love Affair with William Shakespeare,” is free and open to the public, however reservations are highly recommended because space is limited. Reservations can be made online at centenarystageco.org or by calling the box office at (908) 979-0900.
