Warren County Technical School’s Theatre Arts Career Academy is bringing the Old West to the stage this March with the American Broadway classic, “Annie Get Your Gun.”
“Annie Get Your Gun” premiered on Broadway in 1946 and features music by Irving Berlin, including the well-known songs “There’s No Business Like Show Business!” and “Anything You Can Do I Can Do Better” (which has been featured in numerous commercials including one starring athletes Michael Jordan and Mia Hamm).
The musical follows a fictionalized account of sharp-shooter Frank Butler and his romantic rival, Annie Oakley, star performer and sharp-shooter extraordinaire of Buffalo Bill’s World Famous Wild West Show.
Warren Tech’s cast is young but extremely talented with several members acting regularly on the Tech stage and in regional theater groups.
Annie Oakley will be played by senior Paige Hann, who has appeared in several WCTS productions as well as performances with the Country Gate Players, based out of Belvidere. Frank Butler will be played by senior Shawn Bowers, who most recently appeared as Kenickie in the school’s production of “Grease” last spring.
“Annie Get Your Gun” will run three days with times as follows: Friday, March 18 at 7 p.m., Saturday, March 19 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., and Sunday, March 20 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $12 for adults ages 19-64, and $10 for students 18 and under and seniors 65 and older.
Tickets can be purchased online or by calling the school at (908) 689-0122.
