With a perfect 10-0 record in their conference games, the Warren Hills Blue Streaks’ varsity boys basketball team won the Skyland Conference Valley Division championship this season.
They headed into state tournament play with an overall record of 19-5. Coach Joe Bamford has top notch state tournament experience, having guided the Streaks to a sectional championship as a player at the vital point guard position.
This year’s top scorer, with 529 points this far, is senior point guard Mike Dufner. He is one of six seniors on the Blue Streaks squad, joined by backcourt mate Jake Nisivoccia (295 points), Logan Healey (41 three pointers), forward Mekhi Garrett and utility men Warnel McCoy and Brandon Anema.
Hackettstown Girls
With a 17-7 overall record, the Hackettstown Tigers’ varsity girls basketball team has also qualified for the state tournament, under coach Ben Barnhart.
A young squad, they have been led by three seniors, Naia Delthorn, Chloe Stevens and Evangelina French, who scored 13 points to lead H-town to an exciting 48-46 win over North Warren recently.
Ladies and gentlemen, Elvis has left the building.
