Wondering what my photo of the Week subject would be, this Post Office popped into mind!!  I remember visiting there a long time ago and something about oldest Post Office in NJ!!??  Knew where I was going, just a matter of when.  Trip was on Saturday Oct. 26^th and it confirmed my thoughts about being Historic.  Arriving home after my visit, downloading my photos onto the computer, I then checked my files, and found that the earlier visit I mentioned, was back in Sept. 21, 2003!!!

Information about the Historic Delaware Post Office.  Located at 9 Clinton Street, amid the quaint Delaware Historic District of Knowlton Township.  This little District is nestled, just off of Route 46, literally between the Delaware River and a steep rocky ridge.  The Delaware Post Office has occupied one of the store buildings since 1884 without interruption (and perhaps as early as 1860), making it the oldest in the state of New Jersey still operating in its original building.  The actual store building was constructed in 1854.  I highly recommend the following link, a fascinating journey back in time, explaining how John Blair, the Railroad magnate, influenced this entire region and then witness the development of this region.

After my photo visit, took a slow ride home, meandering through beautiful Warren County, with my new camera at hand.  Thought you might enjoy, the little red squirrel eating a large nut, out on a limb and then later on my journey came across a bunch of turtles enjoying some late autumn warmth before retiring into the mud of the pond’s floor for their Winter hibernation.
