This week features two of the cutest siblings ever! They belong to Trish and George Young of Asbury, and here’s their story, courtesy of Trish. All photos are courtesy of G-Captures Photography by George Young.

“Our family story starts with the loss of our beloved Rottweiler, Gabby, in January 2016.

“After a month of quiet and emptiness, we couldn’t stand it any longer. We needed to hear the ‘pitter-patter’ of paws in our home again.

“Our search for a rescue was on! We utilized a site called Adopt-a-pet.com and found Nova and Newton, two Rottie pups in North Carolina from Carolina Canine Rescue. We fell in love immediately! We completed our rescue paperwork, were approved and were scheduled to receive our new fur babies in April 2016.

“Now for the hard part – new names. We each were able to name one puppy. George wanted a ‘tough’ sounding name for our boy Rottweiler and I wanted to honor my mother, being I was never able to have children. So my decision was easy – ‘Laine’ after my mother Elaine. George had a harder time but finally settled on ‘Gunner.’

“Laine and Gunner have such distinct personalities and have brought so much joy and love to our lives.”

Addendum: Laine and Gunner were about nine weeks old when Trish and George brought them home. They recently celebrated their fourth birthdays. In those four years, they’ve gained over 140 pounds between them! Gunner grew from 13.2 pounds to 85 and Laine tipped the scales at 12.4 pounds and now weighs 82! George added, “They are inseparable, always together, even for vet visits. They share two laundry baskets full of toys. If you pet one, the other squirms in and they go back and forth. Gunner howls [sings] when you howl at him, and Laine is afraid of frogs!”

As Trish happily noted, “Rescue Puppies are the Best Puppies! Please Rescue.”
