Belvidere High School’s Class of 1966, which set the standards for much of the school’s future success, recently held its 60^th class reunion at Tiptons Tavern in Harmony Township.  

The class of “66 is regarded as the best graduating class since 1938 when the school was built.

The class of ’66 has had many notable accomplishments and graduates who made their mark in the history of the school.

In the fall of 1965 the team was the first to beat Hackettstown in football and was Conference Champions. In attendance was Robert Place, Captain of the Football Team and who later became a coach at the school.

Principal Saul Cooperman became New Jersey’s Commissioner of Education. Assistant Principal Andrew Mark, a member of the Warren County Hall of Fame, became Superintendent of Schools and student Christopher Maier, another Hall of Famer, co-founded Warren County Community College with fellow Freeholder Chuck Haytaian in 1976. Today the college is ranked in the top 3 of all Colleges in NJ and has the number one Drone School in the United States.

Attendees included a proverbial Who’s Who from that year. On hand were Class President Joseph Zarnowski, Student Council President Terry Call, Maier, and even Frank Dragotta, Faculty Class advisor!

In a special recognition, Barbara Jean Kovacs Wooldridge was honored for her 35 years of unwavering dedication, leadership and love in organizing the Belvidere High School Class of 1966 reunions. She was presented with a plaque with an original graduation Tassel and a bouquet of flowers. 

The two day reunion had nearly 60 graduates attend out of a class of 132.
