Centenary University Names New Athletic Director

Centenary University has named Travis Spencer, pictured, its new athletic director.

Centenary University has named Travis Spencer, an administrator with 18 years of collegiate athletic experience, the new director of athletics at Centenary University.

“I’m very excited to welcome Travis Spencer to the Cyclone family and I look forward to working with him,” said Kerry Mullins, Vice President of Student Life. “Travis is a very talented professional who comes to us with a wealth of athletic-related experience that will be invaluable to our community and the future of our Cyclone athletics program.”

Spencer comes to Hackettstown after spending 13 years at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa. He most recently served as the director of business development, helping to establish marketing plans, provide event management, redesign the website, and provide day-to-day support within the department. In addition, he worked at Lehigh in corporate sales and assisted with revenue generating operations, handled the athletic department’s corporate affiliate program, managed fundraising, and coordinated alumni events.

“I am excited to bring my lengthy experience in intercollegiate athletics as a player, coach, and administrator to Centenary University,” Spencer said. “I am confident that I can contribute in keeping this athletics department progressing forward.”

Spencer earned his Bachelor of Science in business management from the University of Scranton, where he was a member of the wrestling team and later coached wrestling. He also holds a Master of Science in physical education with a concentration in sport management and is currently working toward a Master of Educational Leadership.
