Charlie Fineran’s Photos of the Week: Eagle Scout Project at Bread Lock Park

Hi Everyone:
It is Sunday afternoon August 13th 2023.  I have just attended an Eagle Scout Project unveiling, at Bread Lock Park, off Rt. 57 in Stewartsville.

John Kilinski introducing his Eagle Scout Project.
The Project unvailed.

STORY BEHIND THE PHOTO OF THE WEEK
This is a project that has been in the works for a while, I can remember when the concept was presented and then approved by the Warren County Board of Recreation, of which I am a member.  This project had a special sentiment for me!  I can remember, before that vote, talking to Elizabeth Roy, at the Warren County Dept. of Land Preservation.  She advised a Boy Scout was looking for some ideas on an Eagle Scout Project and she mentioned, a popular sign, I use at my public displays, titled “What Is Your Wingspan?” I have copied and pasted from an email which I believe tells this story pretty well.

Family, friends & guests at Breadlock Park to support John
in the unveiling of his Eagle Scout Project.

MY RESPONSE
Hi John:
CONGRATULATIONS – on your Eagle Scout Project, the final stage on your quest to become an Eagle Scout!!  FYI I am an Eagle Scout, received same in 1961

THANK YOU – for including Bread Lock Park as the site for your project.  What a wonderful way to enhance our visitor’s Recreational & Educational experience, all the while, Celebrating Open Space and Wildlife!

DOWN MEMORY LANE – Going back over ten years, I can remember visiting PEEC (Pocono Environmental Educational Center) at Bushkill, PA in the National Recreation Area.  I noticed a simple chart on the wall showing some wingspans AND INSTANTLY, saw some serious potential for a new part of my public display when doing my Allamuchy Township Open Space Outreach!!  John I can speak from experience – The chart has always been an attention getter and crowd pleaser for all ages!!

LAST BUT NOT LEAST – AGAIN THANK YOU! For including me in your unveiling! Always an HONOR & PLEASURE to be part of any Scouting Program, especially an Eagle Scout Program!!

I will be attending your unveiling ceremony.
