Countdown Begins for WRNJ Radiothon To Benefit The Arc June 5

WRNJ Radio is counting down to its annual WRNJ Radiothon benefitting the Arc of Warren County with special programming to include interviews, personal stories, and information about the non-profit organization, which is celebrating its 65th year working with Warren County residents with developmental and intellectual disabilities.

The Radiothon will be held on June 5, during which time WRNJ will devote the whole day to sharing stories about the impact of The Arc of Warren County’s work with individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities from families, consumers, community leaders and employees.  This year’s Radiothon will also honor longtime Arc Foundation Executive Director, Kevin Guyette, who passed away last fall.

“The Radiothon was Kevin’s brainchild and successfully raised funds for The Arc of Warren County throughout the years because of her vision and commitment to the organization,” said John Whitehead, CEO of The Arc of Warren County.  “This year we want to focus on her dedication to the Agency, as well as The Arc of Warren County’s 65 years of successfully supporting individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities.”

WRNJ has hosted the radiothon since 1990, raising more than $1.3 million for The Arc.

The weeks leading up to Radiothon will feature interviews on WRNJ about the benefits of The Arc of Warren County, personal stories about how the organization has helped families and the services that the Chapter offers.  This year’s Radiothon will benefit the Camp Warren Education and Recreation Center Summer Camp Program, as well as other programs that The Arc of Warren County provides.

Donors will be able to call in during the Radiothon or donate remotely on the Arc of Warren County’s Radiothon page, which is live now. Results from the efforts will be reported on-air throughout the day.

The 2019 Radiothon will be co-chaired by Jim Travis, President of SASCO Otterstedt Insurance, and Norman Worth, President and Managing Partner of WRNJ Radio.  Both Travis and Worth have advocated for the organization and individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities for more than 30 years.  Travis serves on the Board of Directors for The Arc of Warren County and both Travis and Worth are long-time members of the Hackettstown Rotary Club and serve on the Advisory Board for Atlantic Health’s Hackettstown Medical Center.

“We felt it was important to co-chair this year’s Radiothon because we support the great work that The Arc of Warren County does, but we also wanted to have the opportunity to honor the memory of Kevin Guyette,” says Worth.  “She was a cherished friend and colleague of ours who tirelessly furthered the mission of The Arc of Warren County. She made such a positive impact on this community and will forever be missed.”
