EVENTS

Cyberstart Nationals

Thirty-two computer science students will be representing the Blue Streaks in the Cyberstart America National Championship next week, April 5-7.

The students were among 131 participants from Warren Hills who took part in the state competition. Warren Hills represented the second largest group of participants in the state as well as the second largest group of national qualifiers.

To be eligible to go on to the nationals, students had to complete a set percentage of assigned cybersecurity and digital skills tasks. Among the qualifiers were James Goode and Emma Sloan, who both earned silver badges. In 2020, Sloan made it to the GirlsGo Cyberstart National Championship, as well.

Students taking part in the national competition will be eligible to win scholarships.

CodingWithKids

The Computer Science Department has also announced that a two-night virtual CodingWithKids event will be held again this spring. The 6th annual event is open to children in grades 3-6. This year’s event is free to attend, but space is limited so early registration is encouraged.

Meetings will be held Fridays, April 16 and 30. Interested families can register here.

Trivia Night

Warren Hills National Honors Society is hosting a trivia night that is open to students, alum, and the community. The virtual event will be held on April 13 at 7:30 p.m.

Questions will include trivia about Warren Hills’ history and the community. Reach out to chiarac@warrenhills.org by April 11 to register.
