From the Halls of Warren Hills: June 11, 2021

EVENTS

The Warren Hills Fine Arts department has created a virtual art show to showcase the students’ amazing creativity this year. The show, which includes work in the media of pen and ink, paint, ceramics, graphic design, adaptive art, and more, was compiled by the high school’s Fine Arts teachers, Jen Cavo, Nicole Clark, Genevieve DeBoer, and Vittoria Sigona. On May 26, several Warren Hills FFA members attended the Virtual State FFA Convention and participated in a leadership conference presented by a National FFA Officer, and our chapter’s videos were used in the First Session Opening and Closing Ceremony. 

Four members—Holly Ort, Cameron Dunn, Hana Puzycki and Sarah Serao—were awarded FFA Jackets through the Blue Jackets Bright Futures Program. Senior Grace Ferr, pictured, competed in the Employment Skills LDE and also received two state FFA scholarships!

Warren Hills Drama students Elizabeth Higgins and Emily Gilligan, both seniors, represented the drama club in the opening production of the 2021 Freddy Awards, a celebration from the State Theatre Center for the Arts that recognizes high school productions in Warren County, New Jersey, and Lehigh and Northampton Counties in Pennsylvania. In addition to performing, Higgins also received a scholarship award to DeSales University. Watch the full show on WFMZ.

SPORTS

Senior Jaelynn Miller earned her 200th strikeout this softball season against Gill St. Bernards on May 27th. Read more about her season here.

The boys and girls track team performed well at the Hunterdon-Warren-Sussex track meet on Thursday, May 27, at Wallkill Valley High School. The boys team placed 4th and the girls placed 6th out of 17 teams. Both 4 x 400 meter relay teams placed 2nd.

Lossenie (Lou) Fofana ran a blistering 48-second 400-meter and torched the track with a 200 meters clocked at 22.3. It is ranked in the top 20 performances in the state this year. Lou also broke the Warren Hills school records for the 200 and 400 meter races this year. Susan Spolarich crushed her personal record in the Long Jump, soaring 16’1″ during the tournament.

Tyler McCatharn was named Field Event MVP and was awarded The Gold Platter.#
