Health, Wellness Fair to Promote Health and Fun

An afternoon of family fun, giveaways and music is planned as Warren County’s 2nd Annual Health and Wellness Field Day is held Saturday, June 19 from noon to 5 p.m. at Meadow Breeze Park in Washington Township, NJ.

Rain date for the event is Monday, June 21.

The Warren County Board of County Commissioners and the county Prosecutor’s Office along with other agencies have partnered to present the event that aims to provide fun activities for all along with resources and from area social services agencies.

“I think after everything we’ve been through, it’s going to be great to have everybody socially distancing outside,” County Commissioner Lori Ciesla said.

This event will include special appearances by magician and anti-bully educator Michael Kirschner, and Emmy-nominated rapper/actor, T.O.N.E-z, who will be speaking on mental health and closing the event with a live performance. Other activities include games, sports, yoga, giveaways and music aimed at enhancing mental and physical wellness.

“The goal of the event is to let our citizens know that Warren County cares about them and is here to help if they have mental health or substance abuse issues,” noted Kelly Shelton, co-chair for the committee.

The fair was held virtually in 2020 because of the pandemic. It has become especially important this year to have an in-person fair as people emerge from the pandemic, as everyone has been affected in different ways, organizers said.

“This is meant to be a fun event to give folks a chance to get outside and de-stress while playing games to learn about local providers,” said Laura Richter, co-chair for the county’s Health and Wellness Field Day Committee.

Among the organizations participating will be Warren County Awareness Addiction Task Force, Warren County Department of Human Services, and law enforcement agencies including NJ State Police, Warren County Sheriff’s Office, and police departments from Washington Township, Mansfield, Blairstown and Lopatcong.

“It is really a community effort to put on a wonderful community event,” commented Shelton about the work that has been done to bring this together. She added that Commissioner Ciesla has been a driving force and the event would not have been possible without her involvement.

Participants must be present to win gift baskets and the grand prize giveaway sponsored by Warren County Prosecutor James Pfeiffer at the end of the event.
