It’s Still Early, But It’s Never Too Early For Snow

The big weather news this weekend was the major lake effect snow storm hitting Buffalo, NY, where they got 6 feet of snow! While I know most of us are thinking “Better them than us!!” – “They are used to large amounts of snow this time of year!” etc., etc.! This train of thought did have an influence on my picking this topic this week.

STORY BEHIND PHOTO OF THE WEEK

It is this past Friday and I am perusing through my email photo archives and come across an album titled “Early snowstorm” containing photos highlighted here. Then I remember about all the talk of Buffalo, NY, AND I think I have my Photo of the Week article.

DO YOU RECALL OCT. 28, 2008?

I check the date of the photos and it was an early snow, leaves still on some trees! Once I started writing this article I decided to check what day it was. It was a Tuesday. Or was it? I am glad I checked the date and day because as I was going to start writing about my memories of another early snowstorm we had I realized that it occurred during a Saturday! I remember that well since we had to close down Allamuchy Township Cleanup Day early & it took me almost 3 hours to get home by car!

There were trees down all over the place! I will have to check my archives for that storm.  Anyway, the important lesson here is we can have early snowstorms in our area! I got a kick out of the Mtn Villa School photo! Maybe I should have named that Villa Madonna as the building was just beginning to be gutted and adding on a new addition, thus becoming Mt. Villa School which officially opened in May of 2010.

I know snow is not a popular subject this early in the year, so I am keeping this article short!! HOWEVER, just wanted to remind you, early snowstorms can happen here once in a while, the proof is in the photos including those below taken at the Panther Valley Mall.
