Master Class, Reading Highlight Poet Halliday At WCCC


A Master Class and a Public Reading will highlight the Warren County Community College’s next Visiting Authors Series, scheduled for Thursday, February 20 with renowned poet Mark Halliday. The reading, beginning at 7:30 p.m. in room 123A, is free and open to the public.

Mark Halliday’s seventh book of poems, LOSERS DREAM ON, was published in 2018 by the University of Chicago Press. His honors include serving as poet-in-residence at The Frost Place, inclusion in several annual editions of The Best American Poetry series and of the Pushcart Prize anthology, receiving a Guggenheim Fellowship, and winning the Rome Prize from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. He has taught at Ohio University since 1996.

Before giving a reading, Halliday will conduct a master class at the college, commencing at 4 p.m. This event is also free and open to the public, but pre-registration is required. Interested attendees should contact Professor BJ Ward at (908) 835-2531 or ward@warren.edu.

The evening reading will be followed by a brief Q & A with the audience and a book signing. Books will be available for purchase at the reading.

The WCCC Visiting Authors Series is supported by a grant from the Warren County Cultural and Heritage Division of Land Preservation, a partner of the New Jersey State Council on the Arts. All facilities comply with ADA regulations and are fully accessible. Sign language interpretation for any Visiting Authors Series event is available with two weeks’ notice.
