Project Self-Sufficiency Offers Free Workshops

Project Self-Sufficiency is offering two workshops in the coming week, on the latest COVID information and landlord-tenant issues, both free via Zoom.

On Tuesday Feb. 22, Dr. Thomas Bader will present the latest information about the coronavirus including information about vaccines, mask mandates, and the impact of the virus on pregnancy.

Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions at the end of the session. The ongoing series is free and open to the public; for details call Project Self-Sufficiency at 973-940-3500. The next session will take place on this Tuesday from noon to 1 p.m.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, women who are pregnant or were recently pregnant are more likely to need hospitalization, intensive care, or have other complications from Covid-19 than those who are not pregnant. In addition, women who contract Covid-19 while pregnant are more likely to experience issues during pregnancy and experience preterm birth and stillbirth. Other factors which can increase the risk of severe illness from Covid-19 include underlying medical conditions, age, health inequities, exposure to high numbers of coronavirus cases or low levels of vaccinated people.

On Thursday Feb. 24, the next in Project Self-Sufficiency’s legal free, virtual education seminars will cover landlord/tenant issues, starting at 6 p.m.

Attorney Shefali Saxena, of Legal Services of Northwest Jersey, will discuss the rights and duties of landlords and tenants, including eviction, security deposits, leases, mortgages, and saving homes from foreclosure.
