Scarecrows will again take over Hackettstown’s downtown this October when the annual Scarecrow Contest returns!

Hosted by Hackettstown Business Improvement District in partnership with WRNJ Radio, the 8th annual Scarecrow Contest will kick off on Oct. 12.

The public can peruse the scarecrows all around town from Oct. 12-Nov. 8 and – new this year – can take selfies with the scarecrows for a chance to win BID Bucks.

In the Scarecrow Selfie challenge, residents and visitors alike can take a selfie with their favorite scarecrow and e-mail it to director@hackettstownbid.com or send it via direct message to the BID’s Facebook page. The BID will compile a photo album of selfies where visitors can like their favorites. The photo with the most likes will win $25 in BID Bucks, which can be used at any Business Improvement District business.

The winner of the scarecrow contest will be announced on WRNJ on Nov. 4.

A list of scarecrow locations will be available at HKTWN.com or on the BID’s Facebook page once it is finalized.
