Small Biz Saturday With A Twist In Washington

Small Business Saturday, celebrated the Saturday after Thanksgiving each year, has always been a lot of fun in Washington Borough. The day features a DJ and visits by Santa and Mrs. Claus to the businesses in and around town. Many businesses offer sales and other incentives to customers on that day.

This year on Small Business Saturday on Nov. 26, the Washington Business Improvement District is adding another incentive for shoppers to make their way to the Borough.

The WBID, in association with several businesses, is offering shoppers the chance to win a prize basket of gift cards worth over $300 in total, by partaking in a contest wherein visitors are eligible to win if they make a purchase at just any three of the participating businesses.

“Small Business Saturday brings attention to the thousands and thousands of small businesses around the country,” said Melanie Thiel, Executive Director of the Washington BID. “Washington is predominately made up of small businesses and we need to support them not just on Small Business Saturday, but every day. Small Business Saturday is a day that we can highlight them in a big way.”

The contest is only good for Small Business Saturday. In addition to Santa and Mrs. Claus and the contest, there will be a barbershop quartet from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. entertaining visitors and businesses at various locations.

Contest forms are online at washingtonbid.org and will also be available for pickup at the participating businesses and prior to Small Business Saturday at the WBID office, 21 Belvidere Ave.

Participating businesses as of the Messenger deadline include Allie’s Cupcakery & Café, Buttzville Brewing, Gibson’s Fitness Center, Frantoni’s Fashion for Men, Juanito’s Mexican Restaurant, Andy’s Barber Shop, Empanada Mamasita, Gaia’s Gifts, Hairmazing, Kathy’s Kove, Arctic Foods, Fliegauf’s Jewelers, Get a Grip & More, Home Instead Senior Care, KRP2 Swirl ~N~ Chill, Lost Ladies Grill, Next Level Hair Designs, Pasta Grill by Enzo, Park Avenue Consignment, Serendipity Gift Shop, Rooted Lion, Two Country Chicks, Scotty’s Stadium Club, William’s Irish Tavern, Laughing Goat Coffee Shope, and Two Hearts Animal Rescue.
