Steampunk Fair, Sustainably & Arts Green Fest, Fest in Borough Top WBID’s 2022 Special Events

There is plenty of stuff to get excited about in Washington this year. The Washington Business Improvement District recently announced its 2022 Special Event schedule with highlighted events starting in May and running through the rest of the year.

The Special Event Season kicks off on May 21 with the second annual Rock ‘n Roll Steampunk Fair, followed a month later, on June 18, with the Sustainably Green Music & Arts Festival, which also celebrates Juneteenth and the opening week of the Washington Farmers Market. Both of these events take place in Downtown Washington along Route 57.

The Steampunk Fair brings an eclectic scene to town with attendees dressed in steampunk ware, games and other unique activities. It also features lots of music with three bands: A Halo Called Fred, Psych-A-Billy, and headliner national recording artists, the Slambovian Circus of Dreams.

The Sustainably Green Music & Arts Festival is all about the environment, “green products” and “green services”, with live music by The Adventures of Matte Black (pictured above), Dende’s Recycled Sounds, and Big Bruce & The Messengers. There will also be kids activities, displays and demonstrations.

From June 18 through Oct. 1 the Farmers Market features weekly themes or music every Saturday morning by Veterans Park in Downtown Washington.

The WBID’s signature event, the Festival in the Borough, the largest street and music festival in Northwest Jersey, brings with it three stages of music, kids activities and more on Saturday Sept. 17.

The Day of the Dead celebration, a huge success in its debut last year, takes place on Oct. 27 behind Gibson’s Gym. Two days later it’s Hometown Halloween with Downtown businesses handing out goodies to the youngsters, and a parade and prizes, and Halloween music!

Capping the Special Event Season on Friday Dec. 2 will be Santa Claus and the Annual Hometown Holiday and Tree Lighting celebration, which takes place in and around Veterans Park in the center of the Downtown.

All of the WBID’s special events feature various vendors.
