Surprise! Kohl’s Donates $100,000 to Norwescap

Norwescap got a big surprise recently when it became one of only six non-profits in New Jersey to be a recipient of a major grant through Kohl’s.Kohl’s presented Norwescap with a $100,000 donation in November through its “A Community with Heart Program” to support Norwescap’s overall mission of creating opportunities and changing lives in Northwestern New Jersey.

Unbeknownst to Norwescap, a Kohl’s regional manager nominated the organization for the award. Norwescap was the only nonprofit in the northwest region of New Jersey to receive a grant.

Mark Valli, Chief Executive Officer of Norwescap, said, “Kohl’s has been a wonderful partner in our work over the years by recruiting volunteers, raising funds, and donating furniture and other products to support our program participants. But this incredible, unsolicited gift is every nonprofit’s dream come true! It represents a vote of confidence in our efforts to help people move from being in crisis to a point where they, and their families, can thrive. We are just blown away and absolutely grateful for this much needed support.”

Originally established in 1965 to serve the low-income population of Hunterdon, Sussex and Warren counties, Norwescap has evolved into a multi-million dollar nonprofit organization providing services to over 30,000 individuals annually in Hunterdon, Warren, Morris, Somerset and Sussex counties. Their comprehensive array of services includes programs in Education; Employment; Financial Empowerment; Health and Nutrition; Housing and Community Development; and Volunteerism and Civic Engagement.
