With many families adopting new pets during the pandemic, pet services are in high demand! If you have a way with animals and have always been interested in working with them, now is a great time to start a new career as a Grooming Assistant.

Warren Community College’s Grooming Assistant program prepares students to work in an array of grooming settings, including private groomers, pet shops, kennels, and veterinary clinics.

Students will learn much more than just bathing techniques. Topics cover breed identification; tooth, ear, and paw pad care; pet anatomy; grooming products and use; first aid; and business basics. Students will also earn an online certificate in pet nutrition from Purina Pro.

The course, which is primarily remote, runs Tuesdays and Saturdays, March 2-April 3, with two special meetings, including one in-person lab on Tuesday, March 23, on WCC’s Phillipsburg Education Center campus.

Students must have access to a computer with internet and webcam; a dog to practice at-home assignments on; and proof of health insurance.

For more information about this program or to enroll, visit warren.edu/grooming-assistant or call 908-689-7613. Funding may be available.
