Washington Diner, Santini To Be Honored by WBID

The Washington Business Improvement District will celebrate its “stars” when it hosts its Annual Business Recognition reception on Thursday Feb. 10.

The Washington Diner, David Santini, CPA, Fliegauf Jewelers and PrintAbilities will be feted for their contributions to the Washington Borough business community.

This year’s event will be held at Hawk Pointe Golf Club from 6-9 p.m. and includes dinner, musical entertainment and an awards ceremony.

The Washington Diner is the Business of the Year. The longtime staple at the corner of Routes 57 and 31, the Washington Diner has been serving patrons for decades, from area residents to travelers on their way to the Poconos and beyond. Known for their hearty portions and delicious baked goods, the classic diner has been recognized by various publications as one of the best.

David Santini (pictured above) has been one of the biggest supporters of WBID activities over the past couple of years, sponsoring numerous events. But not only has Santini supported the WBID as a sponsor but more importantly, perhaps, he has been a direct participant in helping to make them a success. Just in the past few months Santini participated in the Day of the Dead celebration and Hometown Halloween. And his business was one of the winners of the Hometown Holiday Window Decorating contest. He is a clear choice as the Business Person of the Year.

Fliegauf Jewelers is being recognized with a Special Recognition award as it celebrates its 95th anniversary this year. Fliegauf Jewelers has been family-owned from the start and draws customers from throughout the region.

PrintAbilities, located on E. Washington Avenue (Route 57), may be a non-profit as part of Abilities of Northwest Jersey, but its shirt design business is professional all the way and also draws customers from throughout Warren County. Additionally, PrintAbilities has become the go-to establishment for other non-profits and for-profit businesses as the place where you can get quality wares. PrintAbilities will receive the WBID’s Community Partner award.

“A very well deserving group,” said Melanie Thiel, Executive Director of the WBID. “The Diner is a true landmark, David Santini has emerged as a real business leader in more ways than one, and Fliegauf Jewelers is just incredible. Many businesses don’t last a year. They’ve been here in Washington for 95 years! And of course, PrintAbilities brings yet another solid business to the Borough.”

The event is open to the public. The Three Lelicas provide the entertainment. Tickets are $45 in advance, $55 at the door. To purchase tickets visit www.washingtonbid.org or call 908-689-4800.
