WCCC Commencement Honors 233 Graduates

The future is yours!

That was the message delivered to Warren County Community College’s graduating class of 2019 at commencement on May 18, held on the College’s main campus in Washington Township.

The message was echoed one way or another by several different speakers, including the esteemed surgeon, Dr. Marc Neal Abo, who delivered the keynote address.Other featured speakers included Tolulope Arogundade, representing the student graduates, James R. Kern, III, Warren County Freeholder and WCCC Alumnus, Class of 2008, and Dr. Phil Linfante, Chair of the WCCC Board of Trustees.

Dr. Abo focused on his humble beginners and how he was able to become a hugely successful surgeon, and told the graduates that they too can achieve their dreams if they work hard at it.

Kern told the audience that it was a great feeling for him to be at the ceremony, reiterating that his career start began at WCCC. Prior to being elected as a freeholder, he served as a Mayor. “Always remember your friends at WCCC,” he said. “And give back to the community!”
Also speaking to the graduates and their families was Dr. Will Austin, President of WCCC.

Senior Adjunct Instructor Dr. Alessandre Singher was given the 2019 Golden Eagle award, presented each year to a staff member who goes “beyond the call of duty” in serving the students.

In all, 233 students graduated with a variety of degrees and certifications.
Rev. Dr. Frank L. Fowler, III,  Trinity United Methodist Church, Hackettstown, gave the invocation.

Warren County Community College is a fully accredited two-year college with campuses in Washington Township and Phillipsburg. WCCC offers dozens of degree and certification programs in an array of fields, as well as numerous community events, career fairs, and lectures throughout the year.
