WCCC Hosts Author Jane Wong on Sept. 28

The Warren Community College Visiting Authors Series continues on Thursday, September 28, with a reading and master class by the memoirist and poet Jane Wong. The reading, beginning at 7:30 p.m. in room 123A, is free and open to the public. 

Jane Wong is the author of the debut memoir Meet Me Tonight in Atlantic City (Tin House, 2023). She also wrote two poetry collections: How to Not Be Afraid of Everything (Alice James, 2021) and Overpour (Action Books, 2016). A Kundiman fellow, she is the recipient of a Pushcart Prize and fellowships and residencies from the U.S. Fulbright Program, Harvard’s Woodberry Poetry Room, Artist Trust, Hedgebrook, UCross, Loghaven, and others. She grew up in a take-out restaurant on the Jersey shore and is an Associate Professor at Western Washington University.

Before the evening reading, Wong will conduct a one-hour master class at the college, commencing at 4:00 p.m. This event is also free and open to the public, but pre-registration is required. The evening reading will be followed by a brief Q & A with the audience and a book signing.  

The Visiting Authors Series is supported by a grant from the Warren County Division of Cultural & Heritage Affairs. All physical site facilities comply with ADA regulations and are fully accessible. Sign language interpretation for any VAS event is available with two weeks’ notice.

Wednesday, November 15, 2023— Brian Turner, Memoirist and Poet. Room 123A. Master Class at 4:00 p.m. for students and members of the public (Room TBA). Reading begins at 7:30 p.m. in Room 123A.
