He added: “During the next year the board will also further develop its efforts to provide our students with both the academic and personal support necessary for a complete educational experience.  We want WCCC to offer its students greater accessibility to faculty, administration and staff in order to insure that every student who wishes to complete an associate’s degree has the opportunity to do so.”

Schmidt, who previously gained national prominence for his “Vision of the Future” article that was published in the Chronicle of Higher Education, is joined on the Executive Committee by Betty Singh and Rita Foli, both re-elected as Vice Chair and Secretary respectively, and Dr. Frank Gilly, Treasurer.

In addition, at the board’s last meeting, Gabrielle Brescia was named the Alumni Trustee for the 2015-16 year. Singh, meanwhile, was recently appointed the ACCT (Association of Community College Trustees) NJ State Coordinator.

“Peter is truly a visionary of education and where it is headed,” stated Dr. Will Austin, WCCC president. “He understands the myriad issues facing the future of college education everywhere, and how that affects WCCC as we move forward. Our community is the beneficiary of his leadership.”
