Warren Hills Club Collecting Bicycles, Sewing Machines For Pedals for Progress/Sewing Peace

The Warren Hills Regional High School Computer Science Club is collecting bicycles and sewing machines for Pedals for Progress/Sewing Peace.

The used bike and sewing machine collection will be on Sunday, May 15, from 1 to 4 p.m.

Collected will be adult or children’s bicycles in repairable conditions as well as working portable sewing machines and sewing notions (no fabric, please).Bikes can be dropped off rain or shine at the school, 41 Jackson Valley Road, Washington.

P4P/SP collects 3,000 to 5,000 items annually for distribution in Eastern Europe Afreica and Latin America. To date, more than 162,000 bicycles and 5,200 sewing machines have been shipped to developing countries. The bikes are reconditioned by partner agencies and distributed at low cost to poor working adults to provide reliable transportation for commuting to work, transporting product to market, and greater mobility accessing health care and other services. Sewing machines initiate educational programs and generate income opportunities.

It costs on average $52 to collect, process, and ship each bicycle. A donation toward shipping costs is necessary for our continued success. We suggest $20 per bike and sewing machine

are tax deductible and a receipt will be provided on site.
