Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice will host its 21st annual Butterfly Release Celebration with a virtual event held via ZOOM on Sunday, June 13.

From the comfort of home, participants will be able to experience the Butterfly Release Celebration at 2 p.m.  The event will feature guest readers, music, inspirational verses, the traditional reading of the commemorated names and concludes with the release of dozens of butterflies.

“This beautiful event honors the life of family and friends who are still with us and celebrates the memory of those loved ones we have lost,” explained Jennifer Smith, Manager of Special Events for Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice.

Participation begins with the purchase of a butterfly for $20 in the name of a loved one. Included in the purchase is a memorial keepsake which will be sent along with a personalized acknowledgement card to the designated recipient.

Event participants will be forwarded a Zoom password to enter the Butterfly Release Celebration and can also download the commemorative event program on ZOOM. Families can then share this ZOOM information with loved ones to all be present at this event—no matter how many miles apart.

New for 2021, a DVD of the Butterfly Release Celebration will be available for $9.99, which includes tax, shipping and handling.

Monarch Sponsors donating $100 receive a butterfly sun catcher. A new design in the series is featured annually offering a collection opportunity. Viceroy Sponsors donating $200 will also receive the 2021 suncatcher and are also invited to send along a photo of their loved ones to be featured within the virtual presentation and in the event program. Viceroy Sponsors will also receive a DVD of the ZOOM presentation.

Since its inception, Smith-McCracken and Wood Funeral Homes have been central to the success of the event, leading the way as the event sponsor. “We are very proud to support hospice and the annual Butterfly Release Celebration. This event and the hospice exemplify the importance of friends and family,” said Robert McCracken.
