Centenary Stripes Field Pink for Cancer Awareness

Centenary University’s field hockey team spearheaded an initiative in October called Stripe the Field Pink to recognize Breast Cancer Awareness. Breast Cancer Awareness Month occurs every October. Cyclone teammates Michaela Thiessen and Victoria Schirripa initially proposed the idea, and Head Coach Stephen Speirs arranged for the field to be striped pink. Centenary is believed to have the only field hockey pitch in the nation that was lined pink. The photos here of Speirs and players were taken at the team’s recent Pink Out game. Players wore pink as appropriate and a pink hockey ball was used during the game.
