Editor’s note: If you’ve been in Allamuchy the last few days, then you might have seen Missing Dog posters or heard about the adventure of Oscar the dog, who went missing (trailing his leash!) after trying to chase after a deer in the woods. Well, Charlie has some good news following multiple days of searches: Oscar has been found!

The photo was taken this past Friday at the end of Freeborn Lane by the gated entrance road to the Allamuchy Township Water and Sewer Department property.  Mid-afternoon Friday, I was at Town Hall, Anne Marie Tracy, Town Clerk, received a jubilant phone call announcing, ‘THEY FOUND OSCAR & HE IS OK!!!’ We both headed down to Freeborn Lane to greet Oscar and his owner Ed, along with the rescue party and supporters!  The moment I took the photo, I knew this would be your Photo of the Week!!!  It would also represent a Happy Ending + A Job Well Done for All involved!!  As the news spread, there must have been a lot of, ‘Sighs of Relief’, for ALL involved AND there were many!!! 

OBSERVATION #1:  Hats off to all those in our Community for getting involved – Job Well Done!!  Hats off to Nicole Asher with Buddha Dog Rescue & Recovery!!  Hats off to Dr. Dave Zuckerman for his expertise, utilizing his drone in such challenging conditions!!  Special Kudos to Oscar’s owner, Ed, who never lost faith and maintained a solid confidence through-out this ordeal!!  Last but not least, Thank You Oscar, for staying in our target area!!  NOTE:  I think you could have barked more!!

OBSERVATION #2:  We already know Allamuchy Township does a great job in Open Space Outreach, trying to inform, educate and motivate the public to get out and ‘Enjoy Their Open Space’, but, after this, am I safe in saying that we are also pretty good (albeit, with assistance) at getting people and pets BACK OUT AGAIN??!!
