H/W/S softball tournament commences

By Andy Loigu

Hunterdon Central, seeking its fourth consecutive Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex softball tournament championship, has earned the top seed in the 20-team tournament which starts on May 3 and is scheduled to conclude on May 17 at Phillipsburg High School.

Up to the championship final, all games will be played at the home field of the higher seed.

Phillipsburg, Hackettstown and Belvidere will all be playing first round contests on May 3. The tenth seeded Phillipsburg Stateliners will host the South Hunterdon Blue Eagles. The 16th seeded Hackettstown Tigers will visit the Voorhees Vikings and the 12th seeded Belvidere County Seaters will host the Wallkill Valley Rangers.

The Hunterdon Central Red Devils and North Hunterdon Lions, as the top two seeds, will benefit from double byes in the brackets, meaning they won’t have to compete until the final-eight quarterfinals.

You always beat bye.

Ladies and gentlemen, Elvis has left the building.
