On their way to an 18-8-1 record for the recently concluded 2026 Hackettstown High School baseball season, veteran coach Gary Poyer got his 300th win in a stellar career and senior pitcher Aaron Wolderich struck out a batter for the 100th time.
By the way, the milestones were reached in the same game, a 7-2 win against neighboring Warren Hills.
Poyer, once again, raised the performance level of his players and developed a team which excelled at all facets of the game.
Hackettstown has greatly benefitted from Poyer’s loyalty to the school and town.
A major part of his motivational skills is generating pride in the town which the team represents.
Hackettstown has a legacy of alumni who have distinguished themselves in the college and professional ranks. Alumni have also gone on to succeed in a variety of career fields and community service. They have credited their coach for teaching them how to apply themselves to be an achiever with a glowing resume individually, while also coordinating activities which improve the community.
Congratulations for another terrific season of Tigers baseball.
Ladies and gentlemen, Elvis has left the building.
