Hope’s Christmas Lantern Tour Set For Dec. 10

The Moravian Christmas Lantern tour around the historic Moravian Village of Hope will begin at the Community Center on Walnut Street on Saturday, Dec. 10, at 4 p.m.

The lantern tours will commence every 20 minutes from 4 to 6 p.m., led by Hope Historical Society members.

More than 1,500 luminaries will be placed around the village.

The tour will take a quick warm-up break at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church where a group from Warren County Community Singers will sing Christmas carols. As a special treat, cellist Bob Noble and flutist Kate Gordon will also entertain.

The event also includes the Festival of Trees in the dining room of the Inn at Millrace Pond.

The Moravian Putz, a replica of the Nativity story, will be on display at the Distillery on Millbrook Road. The story of the nativity is told as sections of the Putz are illuminated.

A Live Nativity featuring children from Hope will also be featured.

Food will be available at the Community Center.

The evening culminates with the traditional Moravian Christmas Service at St. John’s United Methodist Church at 7:30 p.m.
