July 4th Celebration in Washington is ready to Honor our Nation’s Birthday!

Washington is ready to celebrate our nation’s birthday with a full day of activities on July 4th.

Washington Celebrates America is an annual tradition in Washington Borough that offers a host of family-friendly events throughout the day including an Orange Crate Derby, an old-fashioned parade and fireworks to cap the night!

The parade, featuring local organizations, fire engines, first aid vehicles, marching bands, and more, steps off at 3 pm and takes place along Belvidere Avenue and Broad Street in Downtown Washington.

This year’s Parade Grand Marshal is Kevin Hopkins, owner of Gibson’s Fitness Center, supporter of many area organizations and local causes.

Organized by the all-volunteer Washington Celebrates America committee, July 4th has always been a special day in the Borough and surrounding communities.

The day begins that morning with the Orange Crate Derby and ends with the fireworks at the Warren Hills Middle School at dusk. The Orange Crate Derby kicks things off on July 4th, starting at 8:30 a.m. by the Borough Park entrance on Broad Street. This is a fun event to watch!

In addition to the parade, an opportunity to have dinner with the Grand Marshal at a special reception is scheduled for Saturday July 1 at Tipton’s Tavern in Belvidere from 6-8 pm. Tickets cost $50 each and includes dinner (cash bar). Anyone interested in tickets can email Chris Cannavo, Cannavo30@yahoo.com or Bruce Schott, blschott1@verizon.net. Proceeds benefit Washington Celebrates America. For further details on the dinner, contact Chris Cannavo by email, cannavo30@yahoo.com.
