Memorial Motor Madness Returns May 26 for 25th Year

Rev up for summer with classic cars and beach tunes when the Hackettstown Rotary Club presents the 25th annual Memorial Motor Madness Car Show at the Mars/Wrigley Confectionery grounds at 800 High Street in Hackettstown on Sunday, May 26. The event is held rain or shine from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and gates open to cars at 7:30 am.

The 25th Anniversary Memorial Motor Madness features entries in 21 different classes that include Best in Class: Mustang, Firebird, Camaro, Antique (pre-1940 to 1970), VW Beetle, Antique Trucks, and Street Rod, among others. Prizes are awarded in each class, with judging by show participants and spectators.  Best of Show is chosen by popular vote, with this year’s winner receiving the Ed Hagaman Memorial Trophy, named in honor of one of the show’s founders.

Special dash plaques are awarded to the first 400 entrants.

Joan Westpy, car show chair, says the show, which can feature 500 vehicles on a good-weather day, will benefit The Joan Knechel Cancer Care Center at Hackettstown Medical Center, as well as other local charities supported by the Rotary Club.

Local DJ favorite Doc South will serve as emcee and spin the oldies all day. Food vendors will be on hand to serve breakfast and lunch items, and crafts and vendors will be available for light shopping. Rotary members will also be selling chances for raffles. Show sponsors include Mars/Wrigley Confectionery, Autosport Chevrolet, Honda of Hackettstown, Johnson Dodge Chrysler Jeep RAM, Rt.46 Hyundai, WRNJ Radio, and Warren County Community College.

Spectator admission is $5, with children age 12 and under admitted free when accompanied by an adult. No pets and no alcohol will be admitted.
