Prevention Group Honors Community Leaders

The Coalition for Healthy and Safe Communities, a program of the Family Guidance Center of Warren County that is dedicated to preventing and raising awareness about the effects of alcohol and drug abuse, across the life span, recently held its 4th Annual Recognition Awards Luncheon to honor individuals and organizations in the community that have played a role in those prevention efforts. Those recognized included Kevin Hopkins and Mike Politano of Gibsons Fitness Center in Washington, Marian Bredin, owner of Good Impressions and publisher of The Messenger, Sarah Perramant from the Warren County Health Department, Tom Cicerelle, Chief of the Washington Township Police Department (which oversees law enforcement in the Township, Borough and Oxford), Pastor Peter Keady, leader of the Phillipsburg Alliance Church youth group, Pastor Wen Ling Lai, Chairperson of One Voice for Warren County, and Athletic Directors Thomas Fisher, Phillipsburg High School, and Chris Karabinus, Belvidere High School. The featured Guest Speaker was James Crouse of Phillipsburg, a Recovery Advocate and a recovery survivor, and also featured was DEA Special Agent Timothy McMahon of the NJ DEA’s office, who spoke about the state wide program, Hidden In Plain Sight. The event was presented by Covanta Warren Energy Resource Co., LLC. In addition, Featured Sponsorship was by Arctic Foods and VIP Sponsorship from Gibsons Fitness Center, and with support from Investors Bank, ShopRite of Hunterdon County, and the Inn at Millrace Pond.
