Pro Theatre Series Starts with a bit of “Sunshine”

The lights come up on Centenary Stage Company’s 2020 professional theatre series on Feb. 14 when it launches with a production of Neil Simon’s “The Sunshine Boys,” following estranged vaudevillian partners.

Al and Willie as “Lewis and Clark” were top-billed vaudevillians for over 40 years. Now they aren’t even speaking. When CBS requests them for a “History of Comedy” retrospective, a grudging reunion brings the two back together, along with a flood of memories, miseries and laughs.

The eight-member cast includes Centenary Stage Company Artistic Director, Carl Wallnau, as Willie Clark, and David Edwards, who returns to CSC as Al Lewis, as well as Centenary University theater students Gabriel Landes and Ryan Robert Washington.

Centenary Stage Company’s production of Neil Simon’s The Sunshine Boys runs Feb. 14-March 1 in the Sitnik Theatre of the Lackland Performing Arts Center at 715 Grand Ave. Hackettstown, on the campus of Centenary University.

A preview will be available Friday, Feb. 14 at 2 p.m. with performances on Fridays, Feb. 14, 21, and 28 at 8 p.m.; Saturdays, Feb. 15, 22 and 29 at 8 p.m.; Sundays, Feb. 16, 23 and March 1 at 2 p.m.; Wednesdays, Feb. 19 and 26 at 2 p.m. and Thursdays, Feb. 20 and 27 at 7:30 p.m.
