Rutherfurd Hall: History Talks, Healthy U Day, More

Rutherfurd Hall Historian Joan Salvas returns to the patio for two more outdoor lectures on Thursdays, June 2 and June 9 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

This series is “Return to the Rutherfurds, From Walter and Catherine to Winthrop and Lucy.”

Attendees bring lawn chairs. Tickets are $15 for the series or $10 at the door for each. Rain dates are the following Tuesdays. All proceeds will benefit Rutherfurd Hall. For more information go to www.rutherfurdhall.org.

Healthy U Day

Rutherfurd Hall presents Healthy U Explore Day on Saturday, June 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the hall, 1686 County Route 517.

The event features, archery, kayaking, canoeing, arts and crafts, fire trucks, a guided hike and sustainable gardening activities. It is free and open to the public but donations are welcome to benefit the Healthy U Explore Initiatives.

Charcuterie Workshop

Rutherfurd Hall and Panther Valley Recreation presents a charcuterie board design workshop at Rutherfurd Hall, 1686 County Route 517, Allamuchy Township, on Friday, June 24, at 7 p.m.

Tickets for the 1.5 hour workshop are $65 and must be purchased by Friday, June 17. The workshop has a 40 participant maximum. Participants may bring snacks and wine.

Jenny Boeckel from Rose & Fig Custom Charcuterie, Long Valley, is the instructor. She will teach participants to create an aesthetic presentation through the selection of a variety of meats, cheeses, fruits, nuts and other accompaniments. She will instruct in how to create a salami rose and salami river and teach cutting and styling techniques for cheeses and how to present fruits and accompaniments with style.

Rose & Fig will provide a 10-inch bamboo board, two different meats and three different cheeses to cut and assemble as well as accompaniments such as grapes, dried fruits, crackers and board décor and packaging to wrap the board to take home. Participants will receive a knife and cutting board to use during the workshop.
