Student-Organized Black Lives Matter Protest Held in Downtown Washington

Organizer Mariah Weatherspoon, 15, a Warren Hills High School student, speaks to a group of about 50 in Washington during a Black Lives Matter protest June 14. She wasn't daunted by the large crowd -- Mariah loves public speaking. The event took about three weeks to plan, she said. All photos by Cathy Miller.

About 50 members of the community came together to attend a student-organized Black Lives Matter protest, which was held in the Pocket Park in Washington’s downtown on June 14. This is one of several peaceful protests supporting the Black Lives Matter movement held in Warren County the last few weeks.
