Tim Morris Named Assistant Pro At Panther Valley

Tim Morris has pretty much done it all working in the golf world, from mowing greens to making sandwiches and drinks for golfers, running tournaments, giving lessons, taking care of the pro shop – you name it, he’s done it!

“I’ve always been an all hands on deck type person,” said Morris, pictured above (on right) with PVG&CC Pro Dan McCarthy.

Morris now brings his varied background to Panther Valley Golf & Country Club in Allamuchy Township as its new Assistant Pro.

“Tim’s experience is a great asset for us,” said Dan McCarthy, PVG&CC’s Pro. “He’s done it all. He knows the ins and outs of the golf business.”

A graduate of Morristown High School where he first started playing golf as a sophomore, Morris eventually was hired at Black Bear at Crystal Springs in Sussex County. In 2011 he was on the ground floor of the newly opened Black Oak Golf Club in Long Valley.  In between he spent four winter seasons working at a club in West Palm Beach, Fla.  Additionally, he himself has played in various tournaments, including two NJ State Amateurs and one NJ State Open. Put it all together and Morris’ resume is darn impressive and a great fit for Panther Valley.

“I feel like this is where it was all leading,” said Morris, who now lives in Budd Lake. “I am very excited to be here at Panther Valley.  It’s a great course to play. It’s a special place – very established and getting better all the time. I’ve been talking to a lot of members and it’s clear that they are proud to be members here. That says a lot. And Dan McCarthy, he’s fantastic. I’m grateful to have the chance to work with him!”

As the new Assistant Pro, Morris has some thoughts on changing some things up a bit. As the season kicks in, he’ll be looking “to ramp up some of the events a little differently” and perhaps add a few new twists.

“I’m really eager for the season to get started,” he said. ” It’s going to be a very successful year. I am sure of it.”

Last year Panther Valley celebrated its 50th anniversary. The club offers an array of membership packages, from golf to social to pool. To learn more about Panther Valley Golf & Country Club, visit www.panthervalleygolf.com.
