Warren Community College Expands Distance Learning and Evening Course Options

As online and evening program degrees continue to rise in popularity, Warren Community College is expanding its distance learning and evening course options for those looking to further their education while still maintaining their personal and professional lifestyles.

An online course enables busy people with full schedules to take classes at their convenience – especially suited for those caring for loved ones, working full-time, or working unconventional hours. Distance learning allows students to complete their education in a time frame that suits their needs, completing online course work outside of the classroom, at home or elsewhere, on their own time.

In addition to the many courses delivered in the traditional face-to-face classroom settings , Warren has over 50 online course sections available and many are in step with current trends and popular pursuits, such as Addictions Counseling, Business, Computer Science, Criminal Justice, Healthcare Finance, Social Media Marketing, Website Design, and a full complement of general education course sections in English, History, Mathematics, Psychology, and Philosophy.  With the expanded online options, completing a degree wholly online may be a possibility for students in some discipline areas.

Distance learning courses earn the same college credit as traditional face-to-face courses on campus, require the same type of work, and provide students with equivalent learning experiences. The College offers a range of services to help online students succeed, including access to academic advising, tutoring services, library resources, and more.

Also designed to provide more flexibility for working adults and those who are otherwise obligated when the traditional day schedule courses are offered, Warren has recently expanded its evening course offerings. Many students complete their degree quicker by taking a combination of online and evening courses to help satisfy their degree requirements. Evening course options this fall include Art, Anatomy & Physiology, Business, English Composition, History, Interpersonal Communications, Microbiology, Physics, Psychology, and Writing Workshops.

Once they’ve attained an associate degree at WCCC, graduates are nicely poised to pursue a bachelor’s degree at 4-year institutions. Acting President Dr. Marianne Van Deursen noted that “of particular interest to our adult students who take advantage of the online and evening course options, is our recent articulation agreement with Muhlenberg College. Upon completion of their associate degree, Warren graduates in a number of disciplines can transfer seamlessly into Muhlenberg’s accelerated hybrid evening bachelor’s degree program options.”

Students are encouraged to look into course expectations and other requirements, including a computer and additional equipment, before they register for a distance learning course.
